Formed in November 1998, the International Advisory Panel (IAP) comprises some of the world's leading financial experts. The panel advises the MAS on Singapore's financial sector reforms and strategies.

Formed in November 1998, the International Advisory Panel (IAP) comprises some of the world's leading financial experts. The panel advises the MAS on Singapore's financial sector reforms and strategies. Tapping the knowledge and expertise of a distinguished advisory panel gives MAS a global perspective on financial sector issues and helps MAS keep abreast of market developments and policy initiatives in major international financial centres. The MAS IAP presently comprises the following members. 

Mr Lim Hng Kiang

Special Advisor, Ministry of Trade & Industry and Deputy Chairman, MAS (Chairman of IAP)

Mr Lim was appointed as the Minister of Trade and Industry from 2004 to 2018. He is currently the Special Advisor, Ministry of Trade and Industry. He is the Deputy Chairman of MAS and the Board Director of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).
Born on 9 April 1954, Mr Lim Hng Kiang received his secondary and pre-university education at Raffles Institution. In 1973, he was awarded the President's Scholarship, as well as the Singapore Armed Forces Scholarship to read Engineering at Cambridge University. He graduated with First Class Honours (Distinction) in 1976. Mr Lim spent the next nine years in the Singapore Armed Forces, where he held both Command and Staff appointments. In 1985, Mr Lim was awarded a scholarship for Masters in Public Administration at the Kennedy School in Harvard University. On his return in 1986, Mr Lim served in the Ministry of Defence and then in the Ministry of National Development as Deputy Secretary. In January 1991, Mr Lim was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Housing and Development Board.

His political career saw him win 6 general elections since 1991 where he was elected MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC (1991); for West Coast GRC (1997, 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2015). His political appointments include Minister of State (National Development) in 1991, Acting Minister (National Development) and Senior Minister of State (Foreign Affairs) in 1994, Minister (National Development) and Second Minister (Foreign Affairs) in 1995, Minister (National Development) and Second Minister (Finance) in 1998, Minister (Health) and Second Minister (Finance) in 1999, Minister (Prime Minister’s Office) and Second Minister (Finance) in 2003 and Minister (Trade and Industry) from 2004 to 2018.

Mr Lim is Deputy Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and a Board Director of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).

Mr Brian Duperreault

President and Chief Executive Officer, American International Group, Inc. (AIG)

Brian Duperreault is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of American International Group, Inc. (AIG). Prior to assuming this role in May 2017, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Insurance Group, a Bermuda‐based holding company of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance operations in Bermuda, the U.S. and the UK.

Mr. Duperreault was President and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) from 2008 to 2012. Before joining MMC, he served for two years as non‐executive Chairman of ACE Limited, an insurance and reinsurance company, and as CEO of ACE from 1994 through 2004.

Prior to ACE, Mr. Duperreault held various senior executive positions with AIG and its affiliates from 1973 to 1994.

Mr. Duperreault is Chairman of Attune, a data‐enabled company established by Hamilton Insurance Group, AIG and Two Sigma. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the School of Risk Management of St. John’s University, New York.

Mr. Duperreault is a member of the Boards of the International Insurance Society, the American Insurance Association, the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Studies (BIOS), Johnson Controls, Partnership for New York City, the Geneva Association and Saint Joseph's University.

Mr Oliver Bate

Chairman & Board of Management (CEO), Allianz SE

Oliver Bäte is Chairman of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, one of the world's leading insurers and asset managers with over 86 million retail and corporate customers. Allianz customers benefit from a broad range of personal and corporate insurance services, ranging from property, life and health insurance to assistance services to credit insurance and global business insurance.
Allianz is one of the world’s largest investors, managing over 650 billion euros on behalf of its insurance customers, while our asset managers Allianz Global Investors and PIMCO manage an additional 1.4 trillion euros of third-party assets. In 2017, over 140,000 employees in more than 70 countries achieved total revenue of 126 billion euros and an operating profit of 11 billion euros for the group.
 
Oliver started his career with McKinsey & Company in New York. Later, he moved to their offices in Germany. In 1998, he took over McKinsey’s German insurance practice. In 2003, he became Director in charge of the firm’s European insurance and asset management sector. Oliver joined the Board of Management of Allianz SE in 2008 as Global Chief Operating Officer. In September 2009, he took over the Chief Financial Officer position. Effective January 2013 he became responsible for Insurance Western & Southern Europe and Global P&C markets. On May 6, 2015 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management. Oliver studied business administration at University of Cologne and holds a MBA from the NYU, Leonard Stern School of Business. He is also Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne, for Insurance and Capital Markets.

Mr Chen Siqing

Chairman, Bank of China Limited

Chairman of the Board of Directors since August 2017. Mr. Chen joined the Bank in 1990 and served as Vice Chairman of the Bank from April 2014 to August 2017, President of the Bank from February 2014 to August 2017, and Executive Vice President of the Bank from June 2008 to February 2014.

Mr. Chen held various positions in the Bank from June 2000 to May 2008, including Assistant General Manager and Vice General Manager of the Fujian Branch, General Manager of the Risk Management Department of the Head Office and General Manager of the Guangdong Branch. 

Mr. Chen previously worked in the Hunan Branch of the Bank before he was dispatched to the Hong Kong Branch of China and South Sea Bank Ltd. as Assistant General Manager. Mr. Chen served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOC Aviation Limited from December 2011 to March 2018. 

Since December 2011, Mr. Chen has been serving as a Non-executive Director of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOCHK (Holdings) from March 2014 to August 2017, and has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOCHK (Holdings) since August 2017. 

Mr. Chen graduated from Hubei Institute of Finance and Economics in 1982. He obtained an MBA from Murdoch University, Australia in 1999. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the title of Senior Economist.

Mr Francisco Gonzalez

Group Executive Chairman, BBVA

Francisco González has been Executive Chairman of BBVA since 2000.

Francisco González is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance (IIF). He is a Member of the European Financial Services Round Table (EFR), the Institut International D'Études Bancaires (IIEB), the International Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and the International Business Council (IBC) of the World Economic Forum (WEF), among other international fora. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Global Advisory Council of The Conference Board (TCB). He represents BBVA in the International Monetary Conference (IMC).

He is Chairman of the BBVA Foundation and he is a Member of the Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees and a Trustee of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation and of the Teatro Real of Madrid Foundation, where he is also Vice Chairman of its Board of Benefactors.

He represents BBVA in the Business Council for Competitiveness, where he is also a member of its Executive Commission, and in the Ibero-American Council for Competitiveness and Productivity (CICP). Also he represents BBVA in the Board of Trustees of the Pro CNIC Foundation, the Princess of Girona Foundation, the Elcano Royal Institute of International and Strategic Studies Foundation, and the Foundation for Help Against Drug Addiction (FAD). Besides this, he represents the BBVA Foundation in the Board of Trustees of the Spanish National Cancer Research Foundation (CNIO) and the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO).

He is also member of the Honorary Board of Trustees of the Financial Study Foundation (FEF), the Board of Trustees of the Pro Royal Spanish Academy Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the Carolina Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the Spanish Seniors for Technical Cooperation Association (SECOT), the Royal Board of Trustees of the Prado National Museum and the Board of Trustees of the Student Residence Foundation and the Board of Distinguished Patrons of Casa América.

Prior to the merger between Banco Bilbao Vizcaya and Argentaria, Francisco González was Chairman of Argentaria from 1996 to 1999, where he led the integration, transformation and privatisation of a very diverse group of State-owned banks.

Before joining Argentaria, Francisco González founded the Securities Firm, FG Inversiones Bursátiles, which became the first independent brokerage firm in Spain.

Francisco González is also a registered Spanish Stock Broker (ranking first amongst the candidates examined in 1980) and a Trader for the Madrid Stock Exchange. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Madrid Stock Exchange and the Executive Committee of Bancoval.

He began his professional career in 1964 as a programmer in an IT company. His ambition to transform 21st-century banking with the support of new technologies dates back to this time.

Born in 1944 in Chantada (Lugo), Spain. Graduated in Economic and Business Administration from the Complutense University in Madrid.

Mr Nobuyuki Hirano

President and Group CEO (Representative Corporate Executive), Chairman, MUFG Bank, Ltd.

Mr Hirano was appointed as Chairman of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. on 1st April, 2016. He was also appointed as President & Group CEO of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. on 1st April, 2013.

Mr. Hirano began his career at The Mitsubishi Bank, Limited in 1974 and actively engaged in global corporate banking as well as corporate development. 

From 1994 to 1998 Mr. Hirano served as Deputy General Manager of New York Branch.
After serving as General Manager of Planning Office for the Americas from 1998 to 2001, Mr. Hirano was assigned to Executive Officer and General Manager of Corporate Banking Division No.2 where he conducted a series of large scale transactions with the bank’s core clients. Mr. Hirano returned to Planning Office in the head office in 2004 where he worked on development of corporate strategies. Mr. Hirano had an instrumental role in the implementation of the merger with UFJ Bank and UFJ Holdings as Managing Director of the bank. Upon the merger, Mr. Hirano was appointed a member of the board of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. in 2005 and Managing Officer of the Financial Group in 2009, respectively. Also Mr. Hirano was appointed Senior Managing Director of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.in 2008, and Deputy President of the Bank in 2009. In 2010, Mr. Hirano was also appointed Deputy President of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and played a key role in the strategic alliance project with Morgan Stanley and has successfully built a strong foundation of the alliance. In 2012, Mr. Hirano was appointed as President of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.  Since April 2013, he has concurrently served as President and CEO of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. In April 2016, he was appointed as Chairman of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.

Mr. Hirano served as Chairman of the Planning Committee of Japanese Bankers Association (Zenginkyo) from April 2009 to April 2010. Mr. Hirano received B.A. in law from the Kyoto University in 1974. Mr. Hirano lives in Tokyo with his wife and has two sons. He enjoys his hobby to visit art galleries across the world.

Mr Jes Staley

Group Chief Executive Officer, Barclays PLC

Jes Staley joined Barclays as Group Chief Executive Officer on 1 December 2015.

Jes has nearly four decades of extensive experience in banking and financial services. He worked for more than 30 years at J.P. Morgan, initially training as a commercial banker, and later advancing to the leadership of major businesses involving Equities, Private Banking and Asset Management, and ultimately heading the company’s Global Investment Bank. Most recently, Jes served as Managing Partner at BlueMountain Capital.

Jes holds a BA in Economics from Bowdoin College.

Mr. Laurence D. Fink

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, BlackRock, Inc.

Laurence D. Fink is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BlackRock, Inc. and also leads the Global Executive Committee.  Having founded BlackRock in 1988, Mr. Fink has led the firm through its entire two decade history, keeping client centric solutions and innovation at the forefront of his leadership.

Prior to founding BlackRock in 1988, Mr. Fink was a member of the Management Committee and a Managing Director of The First Boston Corporation. Mr. Fink joined First Boston in 1976 and quickly became one of the first mortgage-backed securities traders on Wall Street. During his tenure at First Boston, Mr. Fink was co-head of the Taxable Fixed Income Division, which was responsible for trading and distribution of all government, mortgage and corporate securities. Mr. Fink also started the Financial Futures and Options Department and headed the Mortgage and Real Estate Products Group.

Mr. Fink serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University, Chair of the Financial Affairs Committee and a member of the Executive Committee, the Ad Hoc Committee on Board Governance, and the Committee on Trustees. He is also Co-Chairman of the NYU Langone Medical Centre Board of Trustees, serves on the Development/Trustee Stewardship Committee and the Finance Committee. Mr. Fink also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Mr. Fink earned an MBA degree with a concentration in real estate from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1976 and a BA degree in political science from UCLA in 1974.

He was named "CEO of the Decade" by Financial News in 2011 and has been named one of the "World's Best CEO's" by Barron's each year since 2005.

Mr Hamilton ('œTony') E. James

Executive Vice Chairman, Blackstone

Hamilton (“Tony”) E. James is Executive Vice Chairman of Blackstone, and a member of the Board of Directors of its general partner, Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. He is also a member of Blackstone’s Management Committee and sits on each of the firm’s investment committees. Mr. James previously served as the firm’s President and Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining Blackstone in 2002, Mr. James was Chairman of Global Investment Banking and Private Equity at Credit Suisse First Boston and a member of the Executive Board. Prior to the acquisition of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette by Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000, Mr. James was the Chairman of DLJ’s Banking Group, responsible for all the firm’s investment banking and merchant banking activities. Mr. James joined DLJ in 1975 as an Investment Banking associate. He became head of DLJ’s global M&A group in 1982, founded DLJ Merchant Banking, Inc. in 1985, and was named Chairman of the Banking Group in 1995. 

Mr. James is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Costco Wholesale Corporation and has served on a number of other corporate Boards. Mr. James is a Trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, member of The Boards of Trustees of the Mount Sinai Health System, member of the Center for American Progress Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman of Trout Unlimited’s Coldwater Conservation Fund, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Wildlife Conservation Society, Advisory Board member of The Montana Land Reliance, and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of American Ballet Theatre. He is also a former member of the President’s Export Council and a former Commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. 

In 2018, Mr. James co-authored the second edition of Rescuing Retirement, a book proposing a solution to America’s looming retirement crisis. The first edition was published in 2016.

Mr. James graduated magna cum laude with a BA from Harvard College in 1973 and was a John Harvard Scholar. He earned an MBA with high distinction from the Harvard Business School and graduated as a Baker Scholar in 1975.

Mr Jean Lemierre

Chairman, BNP Paribas

Mr. Lemierre was appointed as the Chairman of BNP Paribas on 1 Dec 2014. He is also Chairman of the main French institute for research into international economics (CEPII), a member of the Institute of International Finance (IIF) and in May 2016, he was elected Member of the Board of Directors of TOTAL.

Mr. Lemierre has a long and recognised career in international finance. In the 1980s he held various posts within the French Tax Administration, including Head of Tax Legislation and Director General of Taxes. In May 1995, he was appointed Chief of Cabinet of the French Ministry of Economy and Finances and become Head of Treasury in October later that year. Before being appointed at the helm of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 2000, he was a member of the European Monetary Committee (1995-1998), President of the European Economic and Financial Committee (1999-2000) and Chairman of the Paris Club (1999-2000). He served as President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development until 2008. In 2009, Mr. Lemierre became a member of the International Advisory Council of the China Investment Corporation (CIC) and the International Advisory Council of the China Development Bank (CDB). He was Senior Advisor to the Chairman of BNP Paribas between 1 September 2008 and 30 November 2014.

Mr. Lemierre graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris) and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. He also holds a degree in Law.

Mr Tian Guoli

Chairman and Executive Director, China Construction Bank

Mr. Tian has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of China Construction Bank Corporation since October 9, 2017. Mr. Tian joined Bank of China in April 2013 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank of China from May 2013 to August 2017.

During this period, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and a Non-executive Director of Bank of China Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited. From December 2010 to April 2013, Mr. Tian served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of China CITIC Group. During this period, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Non-executive Director of China CITIC Bank.

From April 1999 to December 2010, Mr. Tian served successively as Executive Vice President and President of China Cinda Asset Management Company, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Cinda Asset Management Co., Ltd. From July 1983 to April 1999, Mr. Tian held various positions in China Construction Bank, including sub-branch general manager, deputy branch general manager, department general manager of the CCB Head Office, and Assistant President of the Bank.

Mr. Tian currently also serves as Chairman of China Banking Association, a member of the Expert Committee for the 13th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of China, a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asian Financial Cooperation Association. Mr. Tian holds the title of Senior Economist. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Hubei Institute of Finance and Economics in 1983.

Mr Michael Corbat

Chief Executive Officer, Citigroup

Michael L. Corbat is Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup, the world's global bank, with approximately 200 million customer accounts and activities in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions.
Michael L. Corbat is Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup. Mr. Corbat has been at Citi and its predecessor companies since his graduation from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1983.

In his previous role as Citi's CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa since the start of 2012, he oversaw all of Citi's business operations in the region, including consumer banking, corporate and investment banking, securities and trading and private banking services.

Previously, Mr. Corbat served as the CEO of Citi Holdings, Citi's portfolio of non-core businesses and assets. In this role, he oversaw the divestiture of more than 40 businesses, including the IPO and sale of Citi's remaining stake in Primerica. Mr. Corbat also successfully restructured Citi's consumer finance and retail partner cards businesses and divested more than $500 billion assets, reducing risk on the Company's balance sheet and freeing up capital to invest in Citi's core banking business.

Mr. Corbat also served as the CEO of Citi's Global Wealth Management unit. Prior to this, he was Head of the Global Corporate Bank and Global Commercial Bank at Citi, a role in which he led the firm's efforts to provide best-in-class financial services to top-tier multi-national corporations and financial institutions around the world. In his various advisory and structuring roles, Mr. Corbat has successfully guided retail and institutional clients across the spectrum of financial services and significant challenges, from the bankruptcy of Orange County, California, to sovereign debt restructurings in Latin America and business restructurings in North America and Europe.

In addition, Mr. Corbat was the Head of Global Emerging Markets Debt, responsible for the origination, trading and sales of emerging markets fixed income debt. He also held a number of positions at Salomon Brothers, one of Citi's predecessor companies, including Managing Director roles in Emerging Markets, High Yield and Derivatives.

Mr Tidjane Thiam

Chief Executive Officer, Credit Suisse Group AG

Tidjane Thiam is Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse Group AG since July 2015. Prior to his current role, he was Group Chief Executive of Prudential plc from 2009 to 2015, having also served that company as a Director from 2008 to 2015 and as Chief Financial Officer from 2008 to 2009.

Previously, Mr. Thiam served in a variety of leadership roles at Aviva from 2002 to 2008, holding successively the positions of Group Strategy and Development Director, Managing Director of Aviva International, Group Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Europe, and serving as a Director in 2007. 

Mr. Thiam joined Aviva in 2002 from McKinsey & Company, the consulting firm, where he was a partner. From 1994 to 1999, he was successively CEO of the National Bureau for Technical Studies and Development, and Secretary of Development and Planning at Côte d’Ivoire. Mr. Thiam served as Chairman of the Board of the Association of British Insurers from 2012 to 2014. He is a chevalier of the French Legion of Honor and a member of the 21st Century Fox board of Directors since November 2014. 

Mr. Thiam is a graduate from the École Polytechnique in Paris and the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris and holds an MBA from Insead, with distinction.

Mr Christian Sewing

Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Bank

Christian Sewing, born in 1970, has been a member of the Management Board since January 1, 2015. He has been Chief Executive Officer since April 2018.

He joined Deutsche Bank in 1989. From January until June 2015, he was responsible on the Management Board for Legal, Incident Management Group and Group Audit, and assumed responsibility for Deutsche Bank’s Private & Commercial Bank between July 2015 and April 2018. 

He was Head of Group Audit from June 2013 to December 2014, prior to which he held a number of management positions in Risk. From 2012 to 2013, he was Deputy Chief Risk Officer. From 2010 to 2012, he served as the Bank’s Chief Credit Officer. He has worked in Frankfurt, London, Singapore, Tokyo and Toronto.

From 2005 until 2007, Christian Sewing was a member of the Management Board of Deusche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank.

Before graduating with a diploma from the Bankakademie Bielefeld and Hamburg, he completed a bank apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in 1989.

Mr John M Flint

Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings plc

John Flint was appointed as Executive Director and Group Chief Executive of HSBC Holdings plc with effect from 21 February 2018.

Mr Flint joined HSBC as an International Officer in October 1989. He spent the first 14 years of his career with HSBC in Asia helping to establish and expand the HSBC Global Markets business in the region before moving back to London in 2004. He has represented the Group in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Bahrain, the United States and the United Kingdom.

In 2006, Mr Flint was appointed Group Treasurer and assumed global responsibility for balance sheet management. In 2008 he added the roles of Deputy Head of Global Markets and Head of Global Markets, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

In 2010 Mr Flint was appointed Chief Executive of HSBC Global Asset Management.

In January 2012 he became Chief of Staff to the Group Chief Executive of HSBC and Group Head of Strategy and Planning.

He was appointed a Group Managing Director in January 2013 and Chief Executive of Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM).

Mr Flint was born in 1968 in Yorkshire. He was educated at Dhahran Academy and Giggleswick School. He holds a BA (Honours) in Economics from Portsmouth Polytechnic. He is married with two children.

Mr Yi Huiman

Chairman and Executive Director, ICBC

Mr. Yi has served as Chairman and Executive Director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited since June 2016.

He joined ICBC in 1985 and had previously served in several positions including Deputy Head of ICBC Zhejiang Branch, Head of ICBC Jiangsu Branch and ICBC Beijing Branch. 

Since October 2005, he served successively as a member of Senior Management, Senior Executive Vice President, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited. 

He obtained a Master’s degree in Executive Business Administration from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University.

Ms. Chanda Kochhar

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Bank Limited

Ms. Chanda Kochhar is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited. She is widely recognised for her role in shaping the retail banking sector in India and for her leadership of the ICICI Group, as well as her contributions to various forums in India and globally.

Ms. Kochhar began her career, with erstwhile ICICI Limited in 1984 and was elevated to the Board of Directors of ICICI Bank in 2001. She was instrumental in establishing ICICI Bank during the 1990s, and subsequently headed the infrastructure finance and corporate banking business in ICICI Limited. In 2000, she took on the challenge of building the nascent retail business, with strong focus on technology, innovation, process reengineering and expansion of distribution and scale. The Bank achieved a leadership position in this business. During 2006-2007, she successfully led the Bank’s corporate and international banking businesses during a period of heightened activity and global expansion by Indian companies. From 2007 to 2009, she was the Joint Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer during a critical period of rapid change in the global financial landscape. She was elevated as Managing Director & CEO of ICICI Bank in 2009 and is responsible for the Bank’s diverse operations in India and overseas. She also chairs the boards of the Bank’s principal subsidiaries, which include India’s leading private sector life and general insurance companies.

In addition to her responsibilities at the ICICI Group, Ms. Kochhar is a member of the India – Japan Business Leaders Forum and the US-India CEO Forum. She is currently the President of the International Monetary Conference, an organization that annually brings together the chief executives of approximately 70 of the world’s largest financial institutions from 30 countries, along with officials from government institutions. She is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Indian Banks Association. She is on the boards of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations, National Institute of Securities Markets and Institute of International Finance. 

Ms. Kochhar has been a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade & Industry, the Board of Trade and High-Level Committee on Financing Infrastructure. She was also co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in 2011.

Ms. Kochhar received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Carleton University, Canada in 2014. The university conferred this award on Ms. Kochhar in recognition of her pioneering work in the financial sector, effective leadership in a time of economic crisis and support for engaged business practices.

She was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honours, in 2011. 

Mr Jamie Dimon

Jamie Dimon is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. 

Mr. Dimon became Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2007, following his appointment as CEO on January 1, 2006. He also assumed the title of President upon the company’s merger with Bank One Corporation on July 1, 2004. 

Mr. Dimon began his professional career at American Express Company, serving as Assistant to the President from 1982 until 1985. He then became a key member of the team that launched and defined the strategy for Commercial Credit Company in October 1986, when the consumer lending company was spun off from Control Data Corporation. He served as Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Vice President, and then President. A completely restructured Commercial Credit made numerous acquisitions and divestitures, substantially improving its profitability. Most significantly, in 1987, it acquired and changed its name to Primerica Corporation, which in 1993 acquired The Travelers Corporation and was renamed Travelers Group. 

At Travelers, Mr. Dimon was President and Chief Operating Officer for seven years. He was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its Smith Barney Inc. subsidiary in January 1996, having previously been the firm’s Chief Operating and Chief Administrative Officer. In November 1997, with the merger of Smith Barney and Salomon Brothers, he became Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of the combined firm. In 1998, he was named President of Citigroup Inc., the global financial services company formed by the combination of Travelers Group and Citicorp in 1998. In addition, he served as Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Salomon Smith Barney Holdings Inc., the investment banking and securities brokerage subsidiary. 

In 2000 Mr. Dimon was named Chairman and CEO of Bank One. During his four years with the company, he engineered a dramatic turnaround – taking the bank from a half-billion-dollar loss in 2000 to record earnings of $3.5 billion in 2003. 

A summa cum laude graduate of Tufts University, Mr. Dimon holds an MBA degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business, where he was a Baker Scholar. He serves on the boards of directors of a number of non-profit institutions, including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Harvard Business School and the United Negro College Fund. 

Mr. Dimon and his wife, Judy, have three daughters.

Mr. James P. Gorman

Chairman and CEO, Morgan Stanley

James P. Gorman is Chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm.

Mr. Gorman also serves as Chairman of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, the joint venture between Morgan Stanley and Citi that became an industry-leading wealth management organization when formed in June, 2009.

Mr. Gorman became CEO in January, 2010, and Chairman in January, 2012. He previously served since December, 2007 as Co-President of Morgan Stanley, and has also served as Co-Head of Corporate Strategy. He joined Morgan Stanley in February, 2006 as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Global Wealth Management Group (GWMG).

Before joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Gorman held a succession of executive positions at Merrill Lynch.  From 2001 to 2005 he led the company’s US and, subsequently, global private client businesses.  He joined Merrill Lynch in 1999 as Chief Marketing Officer, and also served as head of Strategy and Research.

Prior to Merrill Lynch, Mr. Gorman was a senior partner of McKinsey & Co., where he was a member of the firm’s financial services practice.  Earlier in his career, Mr. Gorman was an attorney in Melbourne, Australia.

Among his civic and industry activities, Mr. Gorman serves on the Board of Overseers of the Columbia Business School, the Monetary Authority of Singapore International Advisory Panel, the Business Council, the Financial Services Forum, and the boards of the Partnership for New York City and Institute of International Finance.  He formerly co-chaired the Business Committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and served on the board and as Chairman (2006) of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association in Washington, D.C.

Dr Joachim Wenning

Chairman of the Board of Management, Munich Re

Joachim Wenning is Chairman of the Board of Management of Munich Re, a global reinsurer based in Munich, Germany.

He was appointed to the Board of Management on 1 January 2009, initially responsible for the Life Division, later also for Human Resources. In his current role he is responsible for Group Holdings, Group Strategy and M&A, Group Communications, Group Audit, Economics, Sustainability and Public Affairs, Group Human Resources as well as Group Executive Affairs. 

Mr Wenning joined Munich Re in 1991 and has served in a variety of leadership roles at the company in Germany and in Switzerland. 

Born in Jerusalem in Israel in 1965. Mr Wenning is a graduate in economics from the University of Munich, completing his doctoral thesis in 1995.

Mr. Koji Nagai

Koji Nagai was appointed Group CEO of Nomura Holdings in August 2012 and also serves as President of Nomura Securities, a position he has held since April 2012. Prior to his current roles, he was Co-COO and Deputy President of Nomura Securities as well as Head of Investment Banking, Japan, where he was responsible for maintaining close relations with the firm’s Japanese corporate clients.

Dr. Peter Wuffli

Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, Partners Group Holding AG

Peter Wuffli is the Vice Chairman and Lead Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Partners Group Holding AG.

Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Board from 2014 to 2018. He chairs the philanthropic elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization that he established together with his wife in 2006. He is also Chairman of the Lausanne business school IMD and Vice-Chairman of the Zurich Opera House. Since January 2016, he has been a member of the MAS International Advisory Panel in Singapore. Peter Wuffli is furthermore a member of the Board of Trustees of PG Impact Investments Foundation. 

From 1984 to 1993 he worked for McKinsey & Company as a management consultant where he became a Partner and member of the Swiss office leadership team in 1990. In 1994 he joined the Swiss Bank Corporation (today UBS) as Chief Financial Officer. He became Chairman and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management in 1999, and UBS Group CEO in 2003, until he resigned in 2007. 

In 1984 Peter Wuffli obtained a PhD in economics from the University of St. Gallen with a dissertation on Swiss direct investments in Mexico. Since then he has been interested in themes around globalization, ethics and leadership. His latest book Inclusive Leadership – A Framework for the Global Era (Springer) was published in 2016.

Mr Mike Wells

Group Chief Executive, Prudential plc

Mike Wells has been Group Chief Executive of the international financial services group Prudential plc since June 2015.

Founded in London in 1848 and based in the UK, Prudential provides long-term savings and protection products, retirement income solutions and asset management through its businesses on four continents – Prudential Corporation Asia and Eastspring Investments in Asia, Jackson National Life Insurance in the US, M&G Prudential in the UK and Europe, and Prudential Africa. 

Since becoming Group Chief Executive, Mike has overseen continued growth across Prudential’s key metrics, with the Group delivering record IFRS operating profit of nearly £4.7 billion in 2017, and its assets under management reaching £669 billion.

Mike joined Jackson, Prudential’s North American unit, in 1995, and became Jackson’s Chief Operating Officer and Vice-Chairman in 2003. In 2011 he was appointed President and CEO of Jackson and joined the board of Prudential. He has more than three decades’ experience in insurance and retirement services, having started his career at the US brokerage house Dean Witter before becoming a managing director at Smith Barney Shearson. 

Mike was born in Ontario, Canada, and earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Economics from San Diego State University.

Mr Denis Kessler

Chairman and Chief Executive, SCOR

Mr Denis Kessler, 64, is Chairman & Chief Executive of SCOR since 4 November 2002. He holds a PhD in economics of the University of Paris and is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC Paris).

He is a Fellow of the French Institute of Actuaries. He holds honorary degrees from the Moscow Academy of Finance and University of Montréal. He was elected to join the “Insurance Hall of Fame” of the International Insurance Society (IIS) in 2014.

He was just elected to join the French Institute’s Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. He is a member of the Board of the Geneva Association, of the Global Reinsurance Forum and of the European Reinsurance Advisory Board.

Prior to joining the SCOR group, he was Chairman of the Fédération Française des Sociétés d’Assurances, Vice-President of the Comité Européen des Assurances, Senior Executive Vice-President of the AXA Group, First Executive Vice Chairman of the French Business Confederation.

He started his career as a University Professor in economics.

Mr Bill Winters

Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered

Bill Winters was appointed to the Board of Standard Chartered PLC as Group Chief Executive on 10 June 2015, having joined the Group in May 2015. He is based in London.

Bill has had a distinguished career in banking, having spent 26 years with JP Morgan in diverse leadership roles, becoming co-Chief Executive Officer of the investment bank in 2004 until he stepped down in 2009. Bill was the only career banker to be invited to be a committee member of the Independent Commission on Banking, established by the UK government in 2010 to recommend ways to improve competition and financial stability in banking. Subsequently, he served as advisor to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards and was asked by the Court of the Bank of England to complete an independent review of the bank’s liquidity operations. Bill founded the hedge fund Renshaw Bay in 2011 where he was Chairman and CEO until he stepped down from the company on appointment to the Standard Chartered PLC Board.

Bill is an independent non-executive director of Novartis International AG and a non-executive director of Pension Insurance Corporation plc.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Colgate University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
