MoneySense launched campaign to raise awareness of investment scams

MoneySense launched a Beware! Investment Scams campaign to raise awareness of the risks of falling prey to investment scams, especially when dealing with unlicensed entities. The campaign ran via multiple digital channels and focused on investment scams involving cryptocurrencies and unlicensed online trading platforms. Consumers were reminded to always “Ask. Check. Confirm.” the legitimacy of the entity marketing the product before making any investment.

MoneySense launched campaign to help Singaporeans build financial resilience

Responding to the challenging economic conditions brought on by COVID-19, MoneySense rolled out the #stayunitedstayresilient campaign with messages to help Singaporeans better manage their finances and stay financially resilient. The campaign focused on helping Singaporeans manage their finances prudently, cope with tighter cash flows, minimise debt and avoid scams.
MyMoneySense, a web-based personal finance planning tool, was also launched to help Singaporeans with budgeting and financial planning, through the ability to access their financial information held across different government agencies and financial institutions.

MoneySense organised financial literacy virtual carnival for tertiary students

MoneySense’s annual My Money @ Campus event (MM@C) went virtual for the first time, allowing its programmes to reach students across various institutes of higher learning. Run as a six-week online carnival in a virtual city setting, students picked up financial knowledge via contests, games, videos, and resource booths on topics such as money management, investing, sustainable finance, insurance and scam awareness.
MoneySense continued to support the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ World Investor Week

MAS joined securities regulators around the world under the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to support the World Investor Week (WIW) 2020, a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection. MoneySense, together with the Institute for Financial Literacy and the Singapore Exchange Ltd, organised “World Investor Week in Singapore” on 28 October 2020, which took on a webinar format for its fourth edition. Three webinars were held and more than 2,000 consumers joined the webinars. The sessions featured topics such as robo-advisory services and platforms, what to look out for when investing during COVID-19 period, and sustainable investing.
