Project 1: Analytics for the Supervision of the Fund Management Industry

Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will be supporting the analytics work to enhance MAS’ ongoing surveillance and supervision of the fund management industry in Singapore. You will be responsible for supporting key projects such as MAS’ Fund Data Collection Project and MAS’ Fund Management Risk Assessment and Analysis, as well as supporting day-to-day data/analytical needs of the department as necessary. During the programme, you will have the opportunities to work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. MAS’ supervisory teams, analytics team) and external stakeholders (e.g. vendors, FIs) to ensure that deliverables are achieved and to troubleshoot issues.

Expected deliverables for the project - Collect and analyse data from MAS’ Fund Data Collection Project and MAS’ Fund Management Survey (throughout the programme). 
- Design and develop dashboards, visualization charts, tables, and graphs, using off-the-shelf products (e.g. Tableau) and open-source tools (e.g. Python) (throughout the programme).
- Leverage on data insights to inform surveillance and supervisory work in the fund management industry (throughout the programme).
- Track activities against project schedule and take actions when there are deviations from agreed tolerances (throughout the programme).
- Recommend and deliver effective solutions to address project-related issues, as well as to support day-to-day data/analytical needs of the department, as necessary (throughout the programme).

Project 2: Implement a new data collection platform for surveys administered by MAS
Department Enterprise Knowledge Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will be part of the Statistics and Library Division.

Summary: To streamline the data collection process and identify a suitable data collection platform from the market that can be used for collection of data for surveys administered by MAS. This includes assessing that the platform is compatible with current IT systems, and conforms to the industry standards for exchange of statistical data and metadata. Candidate will also need to work with various stakeholders such as business users, IT consultants to operationalise the selected platform.  

Objective: To streamline the data collection process, improve user experience for survey respondents, and ensure that our data collection methods conforms to the industry standards for exchange of statistical data and metadata.

Expected deliverables for the project - Research on the data Collection platforms available in the market which conforms to the industry standards for exchange of statistical data and metadata.
- Assess compatibility with existing IT systems and advantages/disadvantages of each platform.
- Develop data Collection routes to facilitate Collection while ensuring compliance to the organisation’s standards. Working with various stakeholders to implement the selected platform. This include redesigning existing forms/processes, performing user acceptance tests, preparing user guides for the new platform.

Project 3: Analytics for Financial Centre Development
Department Financial Centre Development Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will be part of the Data Analytics team in the Financial Centre Development Department. You will partner other teams to enhance their capabilities to collect, manage, and analyse primary and secondary data, to support MAS’ ongoing financial centre development work.

Expected deliverables for the project - Analysing data on grants and tax incentives. Harnessing data on grants and tax incentives awarded to enable up-to-date monitoring and to analyse the data to support scheme design and allocation frameworks.
- Analytics for Wealth Management-related Data. Streamline storage and format of data collected from MAS’ Wealth Management-related surveys, such as the private banking Survey and Survey of family offices, and to analyse the data to drive development work.
- Formal TEDA programme training curriculum/structure.

Project 4: Data Analytics for Supervision of Financial Market Infrastructure
Department Markets Policy & Infrastructure Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will be part of a team that develops dashboards and analytics based on regulatory submissions provided by trading platforms and financial market infrastructure providers licensed by MAS. The dashboards and analytics will be used to enhance MAS's ongoing monitoring and supervisory oversight over the financial markets and licensed entities.

Expected deliverables for the project - Data preparation: Format, clean and prepare raw data inputs from regulatory submissions for analysis, which are submitted in various data formats (e.g. PDF, MS word, MS excel).
- Data pipeline setup: Establish a framework to automate the collection, collation and cleaning of raw data inputs.
- Data governance: Establish an internal governance framework for the access, handling and storage of data obtained from regulatory submissions.
- Data analytics and storytelling: Develop dashboards and analytics using cleaned data, in consultation with the supervisory teams. Incorporate the dashboards and analytics into the broader department supervisory framework for monitoring risks and compliance by the licensed entities.

Project 5: Improving staff platform services through data analytics
Department Organisation Development & Communications Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will be part of MAS' transformation, we want to improve the lives of MAS employees. We are looking at applying data analytics to improve employees satisfaction and experiences with digital services in MAS.

You will work with the team managing the employee outcomes to collate and analyse the data to generate data insights identifying emerging topics and trends, issues faced by users. From the data insights, you will partner with the respective stakeholders to ideate areas and approach on how to address the issue/pain-points or areas for improvement.

Expected deliverables for the project - Perform stocktake of data across different products and surveys
- Develop scripts and processes to consolidate data into a centralised platform for analysis
- design, Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards to enable self-service access and analysis of data across the platform
- Generate analytical insights from the data based on needs from stakeholders
- Generate new insights that may not be identified by stakeholders
- Partner services stakeholders to prepare the reports/dashboards to describe the findings/improvements.

Project 6: Data engineering for Financial Supervision
Department Inspection & Supervisory Methodologies Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will work with the SSA team and internal stakeholders such as Technology Group and supervisory teams, to design and implement data engineering solutions/products. The end goal is to help build up the data-mart(s) for the financial supervision group. 

Expected deliverables for the project Along with SSA team members, and in consultation/collaboration with Technology Group’s Data Collection Platform Division (DCP), and financial supervisors (as needed), perform the following tasks:
- Stand up new production database(s) that would be used to house regulatory returns and survey data for FSG/CMG.
- Fine-tune and implement TG’s data ingestion framework to execute the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tasks needed to extract data from individual surveys, and load these into the new production database (raw). 
- Design and implement as needed, processes to clean these respective datasets and load the cleaned data into another new production database (clean).
- Work with TG/DCP Div on the approach and implementation to develop data universes within SAP BI 4.1 for management reporting purposes.
- Design, build, test and deploy data models using object oriented programming concepts, that would form a data integration layer supporting suptech development. 

As a member of the SSA team, you will work with the team to perform the tasks in accordance with the broader product timelines and milestones.

Project 7: Analytics for Investment Performance and Risk of MAS' Foreign Reserves

Description of project

Under the TEDA programme, you will be part of the team responsible to streamline data processes as well as formulate dashboards and analytics for investment risk and performance metrics, to enhance and support the investment risk and performance analysis and management of MAS' foreign reserves portfolio.

Expected deliverables for the project Analytics for investment performance and risk data
- Design and implement appropriate workflows to streamline the data sets from various sources to improve data ingestion, harmonise data and simplify data logics
- Design and implement appropriate data schema to enable better mapping of data across different data sources
- Develop appropriate logics and scripts to automate calculation of performance and risk metrics of MAS' investment portfolio such as time-series active return and risk ratios
- Test and validate the data sets and any processing scripts to ensure accuracy and reliability of input and output

Analytics for climate risk data
- Review and enhance workflows to streamline collection, mapping and integration of climate risk data with existing portfolio exposure and risk data by optimising data ingestion and consolidation
- Develop appropriate logics and scripts to automate calculation of climate risk metrics of MAS' investment portfolio
- Design and implement user interfaces to allow users to call out commonly requested metrics with the scalability to include further metrics as the field on investment climate risk evolves over time
- Test and validate data sets and any processing scripts to ensure accuracy and reliability of inputs and outputs

Investment performance and risk attribution and visualisation
- Design and develop workflows and logics to streamline data ingestion from multiple sources to allow for efficient mapping and harmonisation of data
- Design and implement dashboards and visualisation tools for insights and analytics to enhance investment performance attribution and risk monitoring, and enable comparison to suitable benchmarks

Project 8: MAS-FI Transactions Platform – Usage analysis
Department Corporate Finance & Consumer Department
Description of project

Under the TEDA Programme, you will work with the Tech Products team working on MAS-FI Transaction Platform. The MAS-FI Transactions Platform is a single touchpoint for FIs when interacting with the MAS. There are 2 squads looking at different products: 
- Dashboard for FIs to manage all their ongoing inspection, supervisory, and grant-related submissions and discussions with MAS; and  
- Dashboard for MAS officers to process FI submissions more efficiently 

Expected deliverables for the project

Data analyst. Candidate will work closely with product manager to identify metrics to measure performance of product and design data collection, processing, and visualisation for day to day monitoring of metrics. Can be degree or diploma holder but must be familiar with Tableau.

What you can expect to do on a day-to-day basis:
- Work with engineers and product manager to propose how to measure success metrics 
- Work with engineers to design and develop easy means to collect usage data needed to track KPIs 
- Build automated data cleaning scripts to prep the data for analysis 
- Build dashboards to allow all team members to monitor KPIs 
- Develop and oversee process to gather and process customer feedback data for analysis 
- Where particularly suited, propose and run POCs for AI/ML solutions 
- Generate reports for audit purposes
