Training and Career Development

MAS is committed to providing training opportunities to our experienced hires. We believe helping you to hone your professional competency and personal effectiveness. You can look forward to functional and general development training at different phases of your career with MAS. To broaden the breath of your knowledge and experience, we provide opportunities such as:

  • Internal transfers and attachments.
  • Local and overseas courses, seminars, conferences and meetings.
  • Educational Sponsorship Scheme, which offers financial assistance and study leave for staff to take part-time courses relevant to their work in MAS.
  • External attachments, overseas postings and postgraduate scholarships to study at local and overseas universities.

As a young officer, MAS believes in equipping you with essential skills and knowledge to build your professional competency and personal brand.  This will include functional and general development training at different phases of your career with MAS. For a start, you will undergo the following:

  • Monthly Induction Programme which covers topics that all new hires need to know to be effective in their work in MAS.
  • MAS Diploma in Central Banking (offered by the MAS Academy) which seeks to provide MAS’ officers with broad-based knowledge and a good understanding of MAS' key functions, its core values and ethics.
  • On-the-job training where you will gain invaluable experience and knowledge through hands-on experience.
  • Training in developing your managerial skills, leadership capability, and people development skills as your career progresses.

To broaden the breath of your knowledge and experience, we also provide opportunities such as:

We strongly believe that you should make the most of your 4 years in university to gain a myriad of experiences that will prepare you well for the working world. The scholarship comes with an 8-week internship with MAS where you will be assigned a project in a specific department which will enable you to feel the pulse of the organisation.

We are also supportive of our scholars who bring their explorations beyond textbooks and their universities. From spending a term abroad and immersing in another culture, to interning with private sector organisations to gain exposure to the dynamic world of finance – we encourage our scholars to broaden their horizons.

We may sponsor you for postgraduate studies after your undergraduate degree. The decision depends on a combination of factors such as your academic results, chosen field for further studies and your academic inclinations.

Upon completing your undergraduate studies, you will be placed in one functional area within MAS, where you will receive comprehensive training and build greater depth of knowledge and skills. There will be opportunities for you to explore the different functions in MAS to provide you with a well-rounded career in MAS.
